Sue Hoseit makes history in Europe

15 June 2005

Masters skater Sue Hoseit (Dunedin) has made New Zealand figure skating history by being the first New Zealand skater to compete in an ISU adult competition. Sue competed in the Silver Ladies Free Skating III at the first ISU Adult Figure Skating Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany over the weekend. Sue placed 6th in the six-strong event judged under the new ISU Judging System.

Sue had competed the week before at the Mountain Cup, one of the largest international adult figure skating competitions. She won the gold medal in Silver Ladies III+IV at the event, placing ahead of three skaters from the USA. Sue also took gold in Silver Figures ahead of competitors from the USA. As the sole New Zealand competitor, Sue returns home today with more gold medals than the 6-strong Italian team.
